As a day job, I lead a team of talented thinkers and doers in the charge to solve challenges in the Food & Beverage Manufacturing industry. We design manufacturing systems, build them, and then fire them up. We don’t leave until product is shipping out, which of course isn’t until after we’ve all had far too many samples. (Ice cream projects tend to be my favorite type of startups for exactly this reason).
As compelling as large projects can be, for me, working the smaller details within such projects is equally important (and fun). I began taking on opportunities to help colleagues through project tasks that were slowing them down – CAD drawings, content writing, document generation. My interests were not only to complete this work, but to also nurture others in keeping the human element of our work front and center. My philosophy is that we must think of technical communication as telling stories that other people can relate to, no matter how complex the subject. As this interest evolved into its own workload, I started Terra Concepts.
Mission Tenets
Provide stellar CAD, Graphics, Documentation, Content Writing, and related back-office services to business customers in the Industrial Manufacturing, Construction, Engineering, and Design markets.
Convey value by combining hands-on experience in Capital Food Process Engineering with a passion for ‘old school’ CAD drawing craftsmanship.
Tell technical stories in human terms.
Foster growth in colleagues through mentorship and teamwork, helping to develop our next generation of technical professionals. To this end, act as if we are our customers’ direct employees.
Qualifications
- Career in Design/Build Industrial Construction and Engineering
- Senior-level Process Piping and Full System Engineer
- Specialization in Food & Beverage Process, across most markets from fluid to bulk material, and including all plant utilities / infrastructure / facilities
- 16 Years in Engineering / Operations Management
- 22 Years in 2D / 3D CAD
- 10 Years in specialized AutoCAD Plant 3D / P&I/D
- 15 Years in purpose-driven Engineering Documentation
- 10 Years in Capital Project Planning and Finance
- AutoCAD & Engineering Graphics Certified
- Multiple education paths including Business Management, Mechanical Engineering, IT / Computer Science, and Industrial Distribution
- Hands-on experience across installation trades while executing engineering projects, operating everything from shovel to grinder, CNC mill to rigging crane
